Excuse the so obvious title of this post as we all know that ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ will premiere in theaters today. I just couldn’t resist – and honestly, it’s an appropriate title for today’s outfit post.

As much as I love wearing color (especially during winter to brighten things up), as much of a supporter am I when it comes to wearing a one color outfit. I know how convenient it is to wear an all black outfit which in addition leaves a big room for playing with accessorise and make up to give it that extra touch up. However, wearing all black errrrthing black can be quite flat sometimes, so lately I enjoy wearing grey much. Grey allows you to style your outfit with more dimension by not only playing with different textures but most importantly with different (here it goes again) - shades of grey.

I usually start with a darker bottom, and go lighter step by step. My slightly pointed leather boots elongate my legs which I prefer to cover in some skinny jeans during winter, and I am wearing a comfortable grey sweater on top. Underneath, I added an extra layer to keep myself warm but also to break down the grey a little bit.

A great thing about winter in Tokyo, it's usually quite sunny even though the temperatures are low, and the wind is freezing cold. Sun glasses are always a great way to make your outfit more interesting, and as I wanted to stick to that 'grey ombre look', I chose these transparent glasses from Cheap Monday. I dyed my hair grey end of last year (it was blue first for the first couple of days until it finally faded into this ash grey). On pictures however, the color doesn't show off but you can slightly see the grey from this selfie that I posted on my Instagram (@followingmi).
